RX120 iCUE LINK case fan from Corsair - A good addition to the iCUE LINK ecosystem?
Check out the RX120 Case fan from Corsair. This is a new fan that is iCUE LINK enabled. It's cheaper overall by about 15 dollars per fan which makes it an attractive option if you're looking to get into iCUE LINK while saving some money. You give up a few features over the QX series fans, but on paper the RX is a better fan spec wise. Overall, I think these are good cooling fans and it's great to have some options with iCUE LINK.
Corsair provided these fans free of charge for review. You can check out these fans and get the latest pricing using the following Amazon affiliate links. Using these links benefits the channel at no additional cost to you. A huge thank you if you choose to use them!!

    Be aware the "Commander core" Corsair provide with there high end AIO kits is not the same as the stand alone Commander Cores. The 2 temperature ports top and bottom are not there and there is a 24 pin connector for the AIO version you have purchased which the stand alone version does not have. If you already own a commander core and want to install a Corsair AIO it is pretty much useless to you. Corsair may have simplified the wiring but they need to make standard boxes instead of a box they say is a commander core but actually isn't. NZXT do exactly the same thing with there AIO's.

    This is a great video of the options, but I'm seeing a lot of complaints from people that Asus Aura doesn't work reliably. I currently have a Thermaltake Tower900 with their RGB fittings and res/pump combos. I'm controlling it all with their TT RGB Plus app and it works fairly well. Some odd bugs once in a while, but nothing major. I'm getting ready to do a full rebuild of my system and was looking at what other RGB options are in the market. A lot of them say they work with Aura, but it sounds like people have a lot of issues getting everything to work together. Being able to sync with full color smart bulbs in the room would be awesome, though.

    I did a complete iCue Link build in my Hyte Y60. Had to buy extra cables from Corsair to get enough 90° connections. The extra cost for that was stupid annoying and won't ever use that system again. I just bought a Tower 300 for a new build for my wife. Thinking of doing a Lian Li cooling build this time. Reversible LCD fans are cheaper than iCue.

    It's like you said, RX are the "performance fans". They are Corsair's attempt at keeping up with the likes of Noctua and Phanteks. They are much better for radiator and airflow use. QX are the showcase fans. They look fantastic but aren't well suited for serious watercooling or airflow applications - or rather there are far better, quieter, and cheaper fans for that.

      @@HardwareArtisan I have mine half assembled with Windows 10 Pro loaded and I think you understated the difficulty of getting to the right underside connections on the board. It was a half hour of misery for me. You can't see and read the labels on bottom connectors on that side and you have to keep referencing the manual to know which one you need. If I had to do it again, and there are only 2 or 3 connections that most people need to use, I might have tried attaching them with the with the board loose and then screw it down to the standoffs. It's something I might try if I ever have to remove it. I still have to put in a triple Asiahorse RGB triple fan on the right. And I don't see where you tried to install a hard drive . The HDD will only go on one way, horizontally, with the connectors facing to the rear and it still smashes the power cable. I didn't have a power wire where the wires came out the top. That would have fit perfect. Now for cable management :) Thanks. I7 13700 CB23 29000.

But overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it could be. But, as you said...misery is within the scope of this project...thank you for the report. That's one vote for attaching cables before screwing down the motherboard! Overall, would you recommend anybody use Project Zero Boards on this case? Thanks for the awesome update!

    • @HardwareArtisan
      @HardwareArtisan 12 днів тому

      Hi Aaron-hd8ql, As you stated, that motherboard only has a single 4 pin RGB connector. The 4 pin connectors are 12v rgb headers. You would need to use 12v RGB devices with it, which are not that common anymore. 3 PIN ARGB is what is generally in use right now and the two are not compatable. However, there are solutions for you. They do make RGB hubs that can take a 12v RGB signal and convert it to 5v 3 pin ARGB devices. For an example, check out this link, it's a non-affiliate amazon link. a.co/d/fK4L0Os This hub would connect to your 4 pin rgb connnector and you select the switch on the hub to use 12v, then connect your 5v 3 pin argb devices and you would get basic rgb control. This is a basic inexpensive solution. You could also add a 5v ARGB controller to you setup and just not use the header on your motherboard, there are many rgb controllers out there that are standalone, or you could look at ones from corsair and others, but this would be more of an investment, there are lots of options. If it's just really basic single color RGB you want, then the hub above is a good option, but that's just one of many, search around, but that should give you an idea of what your looking for. The hub above would also give you a PWM fan hub. Good Luck, have fun with it!! Thanks for watching!!!

    Dude thank you for this video! It's helped me think about how i can make a build with a custom loop, two thin rads, with a gpu and cpu water block. You covered some dimensions that are not noted in the build manual. You're awesome!

    Will they work if I don't use the included controller and use a separate hub plugged into my motherboard's ARGB header?

      Hi arniejonassen, yes, you can connect these to a different 5v ARGB controller. It's using just a standard 3 pin 5v ARGB connector. Using an ARGB hub connected to your motherboard for control will work fine. I wouldn't overload a single port with more than 3 fans, but that should work great! Good Luck, have fun!! Thanks for watching!!

    It's the power cable I'm frustrated with. I've been trying to get hold of a 6pin male to 6pin male power cable to run it all. I managed to get one but came from Germany. I connected it but the system would not power on , so I'm stuck with what power cable to get. Why they give you this small rubbish cable is beyond me.

      Hi stevesells5893, I'm sorry it's a frustrating experience. Your power supply should have a decent length PCIe cable to connect this to. What power supply do you have? Maybe I can help point you to a suitable power cable for your power supply to connect this to.

    These cost the same as Thermaltakes EX120 Swafan 3 pack which come with built in reverse blade customization ability and no plastic joiners to break. If these fans for a 3 pk were in the $50 range which about what they are worth in terms of quality and performance they would be the new budget king fan. $90 for these in a 3pk is just not worth it seeing as Lian Li Unifans and Thermaltake Swafans cost the same. Great try Phanteks Fans are nice but way overpriced for the market they are in.

    The right-hand panel and door (with the cables behind) seems awkward to remove to dust the interior, unlike the left-hand panel. Would you recommend removing it less frequently, or not at all, I don't think there's airflow on that side? (Apart from the separate fan partition).
